Bill Tolpegin Earthlink Corporate Development Team Lead
Mr. Tolpegin joined EarthLink in the Fall of 2000 to lead the firm’s Corporate Development efforts. Responsible for all mergers & acquisitions activity and all early-stage equity investments, Mr. Tolpegin purchased three public companies and invested over $10 million in six early-stage technology companies. Mr. Tolpegin also led the development of the business case for SK-EarthLink, a MVNO joint venture. The joint venture was formed with South Korea’s leading wireless firm, SKTelecom, and capitalized with $440 million. In addition to his Corporate Development responsibilities, Mr. Tolpegin was EarthLink’s Treasurer, responsible for the management of the company’s $510 million cash/securities portfolio and all capital markets activity. Currently, Mr. Tolpegin is the vice president, development and planning for the company’s municipal networks division.
Prior to joining EarthLink, Mr. Tolpegin was the Treasurer of OneMain.com, a rural-focused national ISP with over 800,000 subscribers. In addition to his role as Treasurer for OneMain.com, Mr. Tolpegin held a variety of senior financial management positions including Regional Controller, Director of Financial Planning & Analysis, and Director of Investor Relations. Mr. Tolpegin joined OneMain.com pre-IPO and played a key role in taking the company public. Prior to OneMain.com, Mr. Tolpegin held numerous financial leadership roles with many technology companies, including positions with GlobalStar and with an INC. 500 company as the CFO.
Mr. Tolpegin holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley and an MBA from the Darden Graduate School of Business at the University of Virginia.
