James M. Duffy P.L.S. Principal Emeritus of Psomas and Co-founding Director of Digital Map Products
Jim Duffy is a founding principal of Psomas, an 800 person information and engineering firm headquartered in California with offices throughout the western part of the US.
Jim is a professional land surveyor by profession with degrees in civil engineering and business administration. For the past 25 years Jim was responsible for growing the Survey Division of Psomas. Today, Psomas is the largest private surveying and geospatial firm West of the Mississippi. Jim was also responsible for bringing GIS to Psomas in 1982. Since then the company has become a recognized force in GIS with contracts throughout the world. Jim was the Principal-in-charge of the multi-million dollar implementation of GIS into the City of Los Angeles where he also wrote their initial GIS Plan. He is also the Co-founder of Digital Map Products, a subscription based GIS service that he will discuss today.
Jim currently resides in Draper Utah with Phyllis, his wife of 39 years and Kaity, the youngest of his four children. He enjoys jeeping, boating, and seeking ways to do things better through practical innovation.
